Born and raised near Leipzig, my journey took me through a rather eventful life in Tübingen and Berlin before leading me to the Netherlands in 2008. Here, I not only found a new home but also discovered my artistic voice. Today, I am proud to have established myself in the Dutch art scene as a realist artist. Since 2024, I have been part of Masters of Realism, an elite group of leading realist artists that operates by invitation only – a special recognition that I feel deeply honored to have received. My art spans a wide range: portraits, animals, and still lifes, sometimes with a touch of magical realism. Both my drawings and paintings are created using the techniques of the Old Masters. I start with grisailles, laying the foundation, which I later refine with luminous layers of transparent glazes. Each piece tells its own story, and I often lose myself in the finest details – whether it’s a shimmering water droplet or the barely visible fibers of a tablecloth. This pursuit of perfection takes time: months often pass before a piece is complete. But for me, true joy lies in this intense creative process – and in the ability to reveal the hidden beauty of seemingly ordinary moments. Art, to me, is an invitation to look closer. Because often, it’s the unnoticed things that touch us the most. My work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across Europe, the USA, and Asia. But commercial success is just a bonus – my true passion lies in showing others the world through my eyes. Since 2012, I have also been running a painting school in the Dutch Maasduinen, close to the German border. My studio is not only my creative retreat but also a place of inspiration for others. Here, I help aspiring artists discover their skills and experience the fascination of hyperrealism. Both my life and my art are driven by a search for details and stories that make us pause – and that’s exactly what I aim to share through my work.
